Phang Nga Bay Sunset Cruise: Hidden Lagoons, Dinner on Board and Glowing Plankton
Phang Nga Bay is at its best in the second half of the day, once the morning boats have gone. This cruise leaves at lunchtime aboard the Aurora Sea, a modern boat with wide open decks, and takes the bay slowly: the vertical limestone islands, the emerald water between them, and long stretches with nothing else in sight.
You stop at Koh Nok, walk out to Ao Kean to see a tree that has stood there for three hundred years, and swim at Koh Kudui with paddle boards and glass-bottom kayaks. The heart of the afternoon is Koh Hong, where you slip by canoe into the hongs, a hong is a hidden lagoon inside the cliffs, open to the sky and reached through a low cave at the waterline. Then the light goes gold, a glass of wine comes out on deck, and Thai dinner is served on board.
On the way home the boat pauses off Koh Panak in the dark for one of the rarer things you can see at sea: bioluminescent plankton lighting up in the water like star dust when you move your hand through it.

Sample Itinerary
Pickup at your hotel reception and transfer to Royal Phuket Marina. Welcome from the team and initial briefing (if you start from Khao Lak, pickup is earlier, at around 09:30).
The cruise sets out across Phang Nga Bay. The first stretch is pure sightseeing: towering rock formations seen from the deck of the Aurora Sea.
A stop on the island of Koh Nok, then a short visit to Ao Kean to see a majestic 300-year-old tree, with tea and coffee served.
Time in the water: paddle boards and glass-bottom kayaks to look down at the seabed of the bay.
Canoe trip into the emerald lagoons enclosed by limestone walls, with little to hear but the sounds of the bay.

- Refunded: if neither rescheduling nor replacement is possible, you will receive a full refund for the excursion you were unable to take.

What are the pick-up times?
All meeting and pick-up details are clearly stated in your final travel documents (which you receive about 3 weeks before departure).
- Time: we will let you know the exact pick-up time. Please be ready at the agreed place at least 15 minutes beforehand.
- Pick-up point: in most cases the pick-up takes place directly in the lobby of your accommodation (if it lies within the areas covered by the service). If it does not, we will tell you the nearest meeting point.
