Your Surin Islands 3 days 2 nights tour, day by day
For anyone who does not want a flying visit, three days let you take the archipelago apart properly. The difference is not simply more time: it is the boat. On day two you swap the speedboat for a traditional longtail, the long-shafted wooden boat that draws almost no water and can work its way into the shallow, far-side bays that the day fleet never reaches. Pakkhad Bay, known locally as Pachumba, in the morning; Hin Kong and Ko Stork in the afternoon, two sites divers come here for and that you will most likely have entirely to yourself.
The rest of the rhythm is set by the tide and the light. You eat at the park canteen, you sleep two nights in a tent or in a bungalow booked well ahead, and the phone signal comes and goes. Two nights also mean two sunsets, and the short walk up to Kra Ting Bay is worth doing at least once. Day one covers the classic ground, snorkeling in the Chong Kad channel and the guided visit to the Moken village, the sea-going community who have lived across these islands for generations; day three closes with Bon Bay, Mae Yai Bay and Pineapple Bay on the way home. The islands are open from mid-October to mid-May and shut completely for the monsoon, and beds on the island are few, so this is one to book early.

Sample Itinerary
06:30 – 08:30: Pickup at your hotel reception and transfer to Namkhem Marina for check-in.
09:00: Departure by speedboat for the untouched Surin Islands.
Morning: Snorkeling session in the Chong Kad Channel and a guided visit to the Moken village, to hear at first hand about the culture of this sea-going community.
12:00: Buffet lunch at the national park restaurant.
Afternoon: Check-in at your accommodation, tent or bungalow, and time to unwind on Mai Ngam Beach. At sunset, the option of a short walk over to Kra Ting Bay.
19:30: Dinner and your first night on the island under the stars.
08:00: Breakfast surrounded by forest.
Morning: A special outing aboard a traditional longtail boat to Pakkhad Bay (Pachumba), for snorkeling well away from the day-trip routes.
12:00: Local lunch at the park restaurant.
Afternoon: Second boat trip, out to Hin Kong and Ko Stork, two outstanding sites known for their marine biodiversity.
18:30: Dinner and a second night in the quiet of the archipelago.

12:00: Closing lunch in the national park and time to pack.
13:30: A final boat trip with two snorkeling sessions at Bon Bay / Mae Yai Bay and the well-known Pineapple Bay, famous for its coral formations.
15:30: The return crossing to Namkhem pier begins.
17:30: Arrival at the pier, followed by the transfer back to your hotel.

Useful Tips
- Bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
- Comfortable shoes or sandals for walking on rock, and a head torch for moving around after dark
- Carry some cash in Thai baht: there is no ATM on the islands
- Not suitable for pregnant women or for people with heart or back problems
- Do not touch or collect coral or shells: the whole archipelago is a protected area

What happens in case of bad weather?
Safety is our priority. If weather conditions make an activity dangerous or inadvisable, the excursion will be:
- Rescheduled: we will try to move the activity to another day of your trip.
- Replaced: if rescheduling is not possible, we will offer an alternative activity of equal value.
- Refunded: if neither rescheduling nor replacement is possible, you will receive a full refund for the excursion you were unable to take.
Please remember that rain during the wet season rarely spoils an entire day. You will always be informed in advance of any changes.
What are the pick-up times?
Pickup is between 06:30 and 08:30 on day one, depending on where you are staying, with departure from Namkhem Marina at 09:00. You are back at the pier at about 17:30 on day three and driven to your hotel. The exact time for your hotel is confirmed in your final travel documents.
What should I bring with me on the excursions?
For every excursion we provide a list of recommended items. In general, we always suggest:
- Suitable clothing: a swimsuit under your clothes, something light to change into and comfortable shoes or sandals for walking on rock.
- Protection: hat, sunglasses and reef-safe sunscreen.
- Hydration: water, especially on hot days.
- Vouchers and documents: where required, a copy (digital or printed) of your booking voucher.
Are meals or drinks included during the tours?
Yes, nine meals are included across the three days: breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and fruit, all from the national park canteen. There is nowhere else to eat on the island, so please tell us about any allergy, intolerance or vegetarian diet at the time of booking and we will arrange it with the park kitchen.
Can I cancel or change a single excursion?
Yes, but specific terms apply. Cancellation and amendment conditions vary from one activity to another.

Are young children and infants allowed?
Three days on a national park island, sleeping in a tent with shared bathrooms and travelling in an open longtail boat, is a lot to ask of a small child. It works well with teenagers who swim confidently. Tell us the exact age of everyone travelling and we will say whether we would recommend it.
