The Royal Road South: a 3-Day Chiang Mai to Bangkok Tour
A short itinerary that does not feel thin. It was put together for people with a fixed number of days who still want the backbone of the country: the mountain spirituality of the North, the plains in the middle, and the two royal capitals that shaped everything after them.
Day one climbs to the Big Green Buddha above Lampang, a hilltop few foreign visitors reach, and ends in Sukhothai. Day two runs from the mirrored halls of the Crystal Temple at Uthai Thani to the brick and laterite of Ayutthaya, where a stone Buddha head sits inside the roots of a tree. Everything is private: your own vehicle, your own guide, and no waiting for anyone else to get back on the bus.
The tour finishes in Bangkok, in the Land of Smiles. The last morning is yours to use as you like, and the airport transfer is timed around your flight rather than a fixed schedule. If three days turn out not to be enough, this route also works as the opening leg of a longer trip.

Sample Itinerary
After breakfast you leave your hotel in Chiang Mai and start the journey south, on a route that mixes hill country with the roots of Thai history.
The first stop takes you into Lampang province for Wat Phra That Doi Phra Chan, a hidden gem set on a mountain top, striking for the refinement of its design. At the head of the monumental staircase stands the Big Green Buddha, an emerald-coloured figure that looks out over the valley from one of the finest viewpoints in the north.
After a stop for lunch at a local restaurant you carry on to Sukhothai, arriving in the afternoon to explore its Historical Park (UNESCO). You walk the ruins of the first capital of Siam, among the remains of royal palaces and famous temples ringed by lotus ponds: a journey back in time, past great stone Buddhas that mark the beginning of Thai art. You can visit on foot, by bicycle, on the local tram or, for a supplement, by golf cart to move easily between the ruins.
At the end of the visit, transfer to your hotel and overnight in Sukhothai.
After breakfast you meet your guide and driver and set off towards Bangkok. The first stop of the day is the remarkable Wat Chantaram (Wat Tha Sung), in Uthai Thani province, famous for its Crystal Hall: mirrors and reflecting mosaics cover every surface, and the light bouncing between them turns the room into something close to a dream.
Soon after you reach Ayutthaya, the old capital of Siam and a UNESCO World Heritage site. After a stop for lunch you go into the heart of the Historical Park to see Wat Sri Sanphet, the royal temple with its three iconic stupas, and the nearby Wat Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit, which holds one of the largest bronze Buddhas in Thailand. You carry on to the famous Wat Mahathat, where the Buddha head sits held in the roots of a banyan tree, the single image most associated with this city. The day closes with an hour-long boat ride on the waterways that ring the historic island: from the water you watch the great Wat Chaiwatthanaram at sunset, the ruins lit by the last of the light.
Final transfer to your hotel in Ayutthaya for the night.
Pickup at your hotel reception in Ayutthaya. The morning is free for a rest or for last-minute shopping. At the agreed hour you meet your driver for the private transfer (driver only) to the airport or to your hotel in Bangkok, wherever your holiday carries on from here.

The price of the trip includes all the services, any domestic flights and the accommodation mentioned in the programme we have proposed to you (for example: overnight stays, transport, excursions and any other experience specified).
Do I need a visa to visit Thailand?
Entry requirements for Thailand depend on your nationality, so there is no single answer that applies to every traveler. As of August 2026, citizens of more than 90 countries can enter for tourism without a visa and are granted a 60-day stay on arrival, extendable once by a further 30 days at an immigration office. Travelers from other countries must apply for a visa before they set off.
Two requirements apply to almost everyone: a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter the country, and the Thailand Digital Arrival Card, which you complete through the online form before you arrive.
Important: always check the rules currently in force for your own nationality with the Thai embassy or consulate in your country before you book, as regulations can change quickly. If you are unsure, ask us and we will point you in the right direction.
When is the best time to visit Thailand?
Thailand enjoys a tropical climate, but the seasons vary from one region to another:

What happens when I book the trip?
Once the final quotation has been confirmed, the procedure is as follows:
- Deposit: you will be asked for a deposit (30% or 50%), to be paid within 5 days in order to secure the services.
- Balance: the balance must be paid no later than 40 days before departure.
- Documents: no later than 3 weeks before departure, you will receive the complete itinerary with vouchers and confirmations.
Which payment methods do you accept?
You can choose between several options:
- Bank transfer: to a European bank account (in Euros) or directly to our Thai bank account.
- PayPal: payment by PayPal is also possible.
How can I buy cancellation and/or medical and baggage insurance?
Your Travel Consultant will recommend the best insurance partners for your needs. On request, we can book the policy on your behalf, with a small handling fee for managing the paperwork.
Do you also offer international flights?
We do not have our own flight ticketing service, but we are happy to help you look for the best deals. We can handle the booking for you, with a small handling fee.
What if I can no longer travel? (trip cancellation)
Please refer to our Terms and Conditions. If you have cancellation insurance, you will be refunded by the insurance company. Without insurance, the penalties set out in the contract will apply.
