VIP Ang Thong Speedboat Tour, Maximum 15 Guests (from Koh Samui)

From €135 per person

The VIP version of Ang Thong runs the same 42 islands with no more than 15 people on the speedboat. A smaller group means more time in the water, a lookout climb without a queue on the ropes and an afternoon that is not run to a stopwatch. Hotel pickup on Koh Samui, snorkeling and kayaking gear, guide and a Thai buffet are included.

VIP Ang Thong Speedboat Tour: the Marine Park with 15 People on Board

Ang Thong is worth seeing whichever boat you take, but on a big shared crossing you see it in a line of a hundred other guests. The VIP speedboat caps the group at 15, and that single number changes the day: there is deck space to sit down, the guide has time for questions, the boat can stay ten minutes longer at a reef that happens to be good that morning, and the climb to the lookout is done at your own pace instead of shuffling up the ropes behind a crowd. The route still covers the park in full, the inner lagoon behind the cliff, the summit view over the twin islands, the best coral in the archipelago and a paddle between the islets, with pickup from your hotel on Koh Samui, all the equipment and a Thai buffet on the beach.

Sample Itinerary

Your driver collects you from your resort on Koh Samui for the short run in an air-conditioned minivan to the pier.

Check-in at the pier is at about 08:45 and the speedboat casts off soon after. The crossing takes a little over an hour, with the first limestone stacks of the marine park in sight by 10:00.

The first stop, at around 10:30, is Talay Nai, the saltwater lake trapped inside the ring of cliffs. A short walk through the rock brings you out above water the color of jade, and with a small group you have the platform to yourselves for a few minutes.

At about 11:30 comes the climb to the top of Koh Mae Koh: some 15 minutes on steep steps with ropes to hold, and a platform at the top that takes in the entire archipelago.

Lunch is a Thai buffet laid out at the park restaurant or on the sand, curry, Pad Thai, chicken and vegetables, with a vegetarian option always on the table.

From 13:30 the group spreads out as it likes. The guide takes anyone who wants to the best coral in the bay, the kayaks go out along the rock walls, and the rest is white sand and shallow water.

The boat leaves the park in the middle of the afternoon and runs back to the pier, where the minivan is waiting to take you to your hotel after around 8 hours out.

The itinerary may change due to weather conditions or other unforeseeable circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell whether an excursion is right for me?

Every tour and activity is described in detail in your personalised itinerary. For each excursion you will find precise information on:

  • Difficulty level: easy, moderate or demanding.
  • Duration: from half a day to a full day.
  • Requirements: minimum level of fitness, recommended age and accessibility.

Please also bear in mind that sea excursions by speedboat are usually not suitable for pregnant women or for people with heart or back problems. Travellers with disabilities should be accompanied by someone who can assist them when needed. If you have any doubts or specific requirements, your Travel Consultant is always at your disposal for personalised advice.

How hard is the climb to the viewpoint?

The climb to the Ang Thong lookout takes about 15 minutes and is fairly steep: the path can be hard going for small children and for older travelers. We recommend proper shoes and using the ropes fixed along the way. The view from the top is worth the effort. The climb is optional, you can stay on the beach and in the water if you would rather not do it.

What happens in case of bad weather?

Safety is our priority. If weather conditions make an activity dangerous or inadvisable, the excursion will be:

  • Rescheduled: we will try to move the activity to another day of your trip.
  • Replaced: if rescheduling is not possible, we will offer an alternative activity of equal value.
  • Refunded: if neither rescheduling nor replacement is possible, you will receive a full refund for the excursion you were unable to take.

Please remember that rain during the wet season rarely spoils an entire day. You will always be informed in advance of any changes.

What are the pick-up times?

All meeting and pick-up details are clearly stated in your final travel documents (which you receive about 3 weeks before departure).

  • Time: we will let you know the exact pick-up time. Please be ready at the agreed place at least 15 minutes beforehand.
  • Pick-up point: in most cases the pick-up takes place directly in the lobby of your accommodation (if it lies within the areas covered by the service). If it does not, we will tell you the nearest meeting point.

What should I bring with me on the excursions?

For every excursion we provide a list of recommended items. In general, we always suggest:

  • Suitable clothing: for example, long trousers and no low-cut tops when visiting the Grand Palace in Bangkok, light and breathable clothes for hot areas, a swimsuit, or comfortable shoes for light trekking.
  • Protection: hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • Hydration: water, especially on hot days.
  • Vouchers and documents: where required, a copy (digital or printed) of your booking voucher.

For this trip, also bring cash for the park entrance fees.

Are meals or drinks included during the tours?

It depends on the excursion. The description of each tour in your itinerary clearly states whether the following are included:

  • Lunch, dinner or snacks.
  • Water or other drinks.

If you have any food allergies or intolerances, please let us know when you book, so that we can inform our local partners in advance.

On this trip the Thai buffet lunch, water and soft drinks are included, and a vegetarian option is always available.

Can I cancel or change a single excursion?

Yes, but specific terms apply. Cancellation and amendment conditions vary from one activity to another.

You will find the exact details for each excursion in the Terms and Conditions attached to your quotation. If you need to make a change or a cancellation, please write to us at info@thailandfantastic.com as soon as possible.

Are young children and infants allowed?

It depends on the activity. Some excursions, especially those by boat or those requiring physical effort, may have age or height restrictions for safety reasons. Any such restriction is stated in the tour description.

Please always tell us the exact age of every participant, children in particular, when you request a quotation.
